Three engineering students drown in river Krishna

Three engineering students of a private college here drowned today in river Krishna while they had gone to the river site for conducting a technical survey as a part of their curriculum, police said.
The incident took place today when three students of V R Siddhartha Engineering College drowned in river Krishna when they had gone to conduct a technical survey at the river site in Madduru village of the district as part of their curriculum, sub-inspector at Kankipadu police station G Srinivas said.
According to police, a group of students in two batches had gone to take technical details like water level and while taking measurements, three of them slipped into the river and were washed away.
Other classmates tried to save them but their efforts proved in vain and they immediately informed faculty members.
Police after receiving the information reached the spot and launched a search, he said.
The deceased were identified as B Srikant (21), a native of Kandukuru village in Prakassam district, J Rajesh, (21), who belonged to Nidamanuru village near Vijayawada and B Lal (21), who hailed from Tadigadapa village near here.
The bodies were sent to district government hospital for postmortem and a case has been filed in this regard, he said.
