Three hardcore Maoists today surrendered before the security forces with weapons in Bihar's Aurangabad district, the police said.
As part of 'Operation Vishwas' launched by security forces to bring the Maoists in the mainstream, three ultras, Anandi Singh, Nageshwar Singh and Sanjay Yadav surrendered before the district police officials and handed over a rifle looted from the police, a country-made carbine and 15 live cartridges of .315 bore weapon, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Babu Ram said.
Anandi Singh, a native of Bhagwanpur village under Tandwa police station area was a former self-styled area commandant of the proscribed CPI(Maoist), while Nageshwar Singh and Sanjay Yadav, hailing from villages under Navi Nagar and Male police station areas, were area commander and sub-zonal commanders respectively, he said.
The three Maoists told the security officials that top Maoists leaders exploit their subordinates by taking advantage of their poor socio-economic background, while they themselves send their wards to foreign countries for education and good life, Baburam said.
The SP said those Maoists relinquishing violence and joining mainstream will be given compensation by the state government under a rehabilitation package and in the case of three Maoists surrendering today, Anandi Singh and Nageshwar Singh would get Rs 1.5 lakh each, while Sanjay Yadav would be given assistance worth Rs three lakh, besides training for skill development once they served out their jail terms.
