Three held for trying to smuggle idol

Three persons, hailing from Kerala, have been arrested on charges of trying to smuggle and sell a 'panchaloha' idol of Lord Ganesh, police today said.
Following a tip-off, police had stopped a car at Nagercoil last night and on checking it, found the idol.
The three occupants told police they had smuggled the idol from from Tiruvanandapuram to Nagercoil and were planning to sell it, police said.
Police said the value of the 5.5 kg idol was estimated to be Rs 50 lakh.
