Three killed as DMU train collides with tractor

Three persons, including two railway employees, were today killed when a Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) train, which was on its way from Ferozepur to Jalandhar, collided with a tractor at Wariana manned railway crossing.
The deceased have been identified as loco driver Bhajan Singh, railway technician Paramjeet Singh and the tractor driver Chotey Lal, police said.
According to a senior railway official, the train pushed the tractor for several meters along the railway track.
An inquiry has been ordered into the incident, which occurred this morning, by the railway to ascertain the cause behind the accident, the officer said.
Senior Divisional Safety Officer has been entrusted with the task of conducting the inquiry and has been asked to submit report within 10 days, the officer said.
