Three killed, six injured as bus hits car

Three persons were killed and six others were injured after a speeding private bus hit a car and side turned on the busy Beliaghata Main Road today, city police sources said.
A private bus of the Howrah-Salt Lake route with around 26 passengers on board, first hit the car and then side turned, a senior police officer said adding, one passenger of the bus and another one travelling in the car died on the spot.
Another passenger of the bus succumbed to his injuries later on in the hospital. The six injured have been admitted to the NRS medical college and hospital, he said.

Both the driver and conductor of the bus were absconding and no arrests have been made yet, the police said.
Local residents put up a road blockade soon after the accident demanding stern steps against rash driving. A huge police contingent was rushed to the area and the blockade was lifted after an hour, the sources said.
