A sessions court here has convicted three men to life imprisonment for shooting dead a youth after a confrontation during a local cricket match in 2009.
Additional District Sessions Judge Virnayak Singh on Friday imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on the convicts - Saleem, Azharuddin and Sarvar - after holding them guilty under IPC section 302 (punishment for murder).
According to public prosecutor Jitender Tyagi, a fight ensued between the three convicted men and the victim Shamshad during the cricket match in Gangeru village in Shamli district on September 5, 2009 following which the youth was shot dead.
