Three policemen, who allegedly took away Rs 20 lakh in cash from an employee of a jewellery store under the pretext of checking the source of money, have been dismissed from service, a police official said here Monday.
The three - two head constables and a constable - were suspended last year after they took the cash from the staff of the store and hid the cash in a bush, the police said.
The accused, manning a checkpost here, had questioned the employee after intercepting a bus in which he was travelling and sought documents for the source of the money before taking it away, they said.
The three were dismissed after a departmental inquiry, a police official here told PTI.
The cash was recovered by the police.
