Tiger kills its mate at wildlife park

A five-year-old tigress died after it was attacked by its mate at the Pilikula wildlife park at Vamanjoor on the city outskirts, a senior park official said today.
Tigress Bunty sustained severe injuries after an attack by male tiger, Kumar, on Monday morning, when the two tigers were put together in an enclosure for mating, Director of Pilikula Biological Park, Jayaprakash Bhandary said.
The male tiger turned aggressive and pounced on Bunty, leaving the tigress seriously injured.
Despite the best efforts of veterinarian, Bunty's life could not be saved as the wound in its neck was deep, he said.
The carcass was cremated after postmortem.
