A tiger snatched a man from a boat of crab catchers at Sudhanyakhali creek in the Sundarbans today, forest department officials said.
Three men were returning home after a six-day long crab catching trip when the tiger jumped on their boat and lifted 52-year-old Srinibas Sarakr at the creek in Pirkhali forest at about 2 PM.
The two other men on board, Nemai Baidya and Moti Mridha, tried to rescue him but failed. They later informed the forest department about the incident.
Forest personnel have been searching for Sarkar who hailed from Dayapur village under Gosaba police station, forest officials said.
