Tight security in Lucknow, Faizabad for Muharram

Security has been stepped up in Lucknow and Faizabad for Muharram following the input from local intelligence which termed the two districts of Uttar Pradesh as "sensitive".
"Lucknow and Faizabad are the most sensitive districts during Muharram. We have made elaborate security arrangements in these districts to check any untoward incident," IG Law and order Raj Kumar Vishwakarma told reporters here.
After Lucknow, Faizabad is ranked second in terms of sensitivity as on few days Muharram processions coincides with "panch kosi" parikrama, he said.
On November 17, panch kosi parikrama and Muharram procession will coincide at five places for which precautions have been taken and directives issued to put up barricades to control the crowd, he said.

Local administration in Faizabad has been asked to coordinate with religious leaders in advance and chalk out plans to avert an untoward incident, the official said.
