TMC scripted own downfall, Cong-LF together for power: Irani

Union Minister Smriti Irani today attacked the ruling TMC stating it has "scripted its own downfall" in the state even as she targeted the Congress-Left Front alliance saying they joined hands "only to grab power".
"Today in Bengal the hand (Congress' election symbol) is offering Red Salute and picking up the Red flag at rallies. They (Cong-LF) have only one agenda and that is to grab power in the state by any means," the Minister for Human Resource Development told an election rally.
At the rally at Vrindavani Maidan in support of BJP's Englishbazar candidate Suman Banerjee, she unleashed a scathing attack on TMC and asked people to "think hard as to what the Ma-Mati-Manush government has given them".

"What has changed in Bengal? Is this the change you wanted where there is no work for the unemployed and farmers don't get adequate water to irrigate their fields? This Ma-Mati-Manush government (of TMC) has scripted its own downfall," she said.
She criticised law and order situation claiming women are harassed in the state and they can't lead their lives with dignity and "even little girls are not safe".
"Bengal was known for its rich culture and heritage. When I arrived here today, I was told only about how many bombs were found since last night. I was astonished. It is in Malda where a police station was burnt not long back and the district is earning the dubious distinction of being a den of fake currency rackets and opium cultivation," Irani said.

Urging the people to vote for BJP, she said, "It's the BJP and the Prime Minister who made loan provisions for small entrepreneurs, crop security schemes, free education at IITs for the economically weaker students, free books from class I to XII through NCERT and several other development schemes for women and physically challenged."

The ma-mati-manush government in the state has failed to improve the life of the people, Irani said at a rally in Kolkata later.
"In the last elections, the TMC came to power promising a change in every aspect of life of the people here. But it has failed to respect Maa (mother), understand the significance of Mati (land) and improve life of the common people (manush)," she said.

Addressing the rally in the central part of the city, a few metres from the site of the under-construction flyover, a portion of which collapsed last month killing 26 people and injuring around 89, Irani said the TMC has failed to provide "security to the common man of the state".
"It's quite unfortunate that Bengal which was known for its freedom fighters, has now become a place where police stations are attacked and TMC leaders sit idle at their party offices.
"On the day of Ramnavami, Malda welcomed me not with flowers but with a bomb scare," she said.
A bomb scare was triggered near a post office in Malda after a bag was found abandoned not far from the site of the election meeting addressed by Irani this afternoon.

"Can you tell me how many youth were employed under this TMC government's rule? Can you give me the number of investments made during these last five years? Youths are going out of the state to get jobs. There is no security for businessmen either," she said.
