TN polls: CEC discusses May 16 preparations with CEO

Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi today held discussions with Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni on preparations for the May 16 Assembly polls.
Zaidi and a host of officials discussed the arrangements made for the smooth conduct of elections through a video-conference facility from New Delhi, official sources said.
The CEC held consultations with Lakhoni and other officials including DGP (Elections) KP Maghendran.
Meanwhile, as part of encouraging ethical voting the Election Commission led by Lakhoni and a host of officials took the ethical voting pledge.
The Commission has been campaigning hard for encouraging voters to take up the pledge and members from various public and private sector agencies took part in the pledge, they said.

For smooth conduct of polls, the EC has sought 300 companies of security personnel and already several of them are deployed in various booths.
