TN to confer e-governance awards for MSMEs

The Tamil Nadu government would confer e-governance awards on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and entrepreneurs who produce software to execute public utility services, Information Technology Minister Mukkur N Subramanian informed the state Assembly today.
"To recognise the social responsibility of MSMEs, and entrepreneurs who produce software for public utility services, the government would confer e-governance awards annually at a cost of Rs 12 lakh," he said.
Stating that the government departments are installing huge Information Technology and non Information Technology assets, he said that cloud-based asset management will be implemented at a cost of Rs 30 lakh to properly administer and maintain such assets.

Development of a visual thesaurus for Tamil at a cost of Rs 27.42 lakh by the Tamil Virtual Academy, an autonomous institution, founded by the government and digitisation of nationalised books at a cost of Rs 10 lakh were among his other announcements.
To create awareness on information and communication technology and e-governance among the public, Information and Communication Technology Week would be observed every year, he added.
