"The incident occurred at around 3 PM in Shaligowraram mandal. After receiving the information, the district administration called an excavator to dig a parallel well to recover the child," the official said.
The girl's mother said that the child was missing for sometime during this afternoon.
"While I was searching for the girl, I heard cries of the baby from the borewell and later found out that my child had fallen into the borewell," she said.
The rescue operation is being overseen by police and revenue officials.
According to the official, an ambulance has been kept ready for providing immediate medical facility to the girl when she comes out.
