Top cueists for 6-red snooker

India number 2 Kamal Chawla of the Railways and number 5 Sundeep Gulati of Delhi are the top two seeds in the Matunga Gymkhana 6-Red Open Snooker Tournament commencing here tomorrow.
The final of this tournament, which is being conducted under the auspices of Billiards and Snooker Association of Maharashtra, is slated to be played on March 25, a media release said.
The other main contenders include former Asian championship bronze medallist Laxman Rawat and former two-time Asian champion Yasin Merchant, to name a few.
The tournament offers a total cash prize of Rs. two lakh. The ultimate champion will earn a purse of Rs 50,000 and a trophy, while the runner-up will receive a cash award of Rs 30,000 plus a Trophy.
The format is a straight knock-out and matches up to the round of 64 will be played over best-of-7 frames.
From the round of 32 till the quarter-finals it will be played over best-of-9 frames.
The semi-finals will be contested over best-of-11 frames and the grand finale will be a best-of-13 frame affair.
The tournament will be played in accordance with the prevailing rules and regulations of the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI), the release added.
