Custodian TFC, Salamabad, Farooq Ahmad Shah was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 after the trader lodged a complaint accusing him of demanding the amount for releasing his six load carriers to cross Line of Control into Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (Pok), an SVO spokesman said.
In his complaint, the trader alleged that Shah had detained his load carriers for the last six days due to some "file clearance" despite having submitted the relevant documents.
"On the receipt of the complaint yesterday, a case under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered and a team was constituted which laid a successful trap and arrested the accused while accepting the bribe in presence of independent witnesses," the spokesman said.
He said investigation in the case is underway.
