Trade union convention on Sept 4

At a meeting here, the unions resolved to intensify agitation against the "neo-liberal and anti-people policies" of the government.

While there is no talk of expanding subsidised public distribution system to address inflation, government is suggesting withdrawal of all forms of subsidy, even pleading for increasing diesel and cooking gas prices, a statement issued by the trade unions said.

The meeting today was attended by Congress-backed INTUC, AITUC, BMS and CITU among others.
