Head Constable Ajay Kumar was on his duty near Bhatta no. 10 on the highway yesterday when he found a commercial vehicle being driven on the wrong side of the road, police said.
When the driver was asked to stop, he started abusing the officer and also called the owner of the vehicle, they said.
Owner of the vehicle Bhim Singh and his son Surendra arrived along with one more person, and assaulted the policeman, besides tearing off his uniform, police said.
Investigating officer ASI Brahm Prakash informed that two of the four accused have been arrested and the hunt to nab the other two accused - Surendra and Narender -- is underway.
