The policeman was rescued only after several PCR vans gave a chase for 10 kms and fired shots to deflate the vehicle's tyres, police said today.
According to police, the traffic constable had flagged the dumper to check its documents near Shankar Road but he was abducted by the truck's driver.
"A PCR call was made in this regard following which the truck was chased by more than half a dozen PCR vans which finally intercepted it near Jhandewalan in central Delhi after shots were fired at the dumper's tyres," said a senior police official.
"Role of sand mafia is being suspected in the case but we are ascertaining the facts," he said.
