Roads in the proximity of Rajpath and those leading to Red Fort such as Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Subhash Marg will remain closed for normal traffic on Friday for the full dress rehearsal of Republic Day parade.
The parade, which will start at 9:50 AM from Vijay Chowk, will proceed to Red Fort Ground passing through Rajpath, India Gate, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhash Marg.
According to a traffic advisory released today by Delhi Police, no traffic will be allowed from Vijay Chowk to India Gate on Rajpath from 5 AM to 12.30 PM while no cross traffic on Rajpath from 9.30 AM at Rafi Marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road, 'C'-Hexagon.
From 10 AM, traffic on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Subhash Marg will not be allowed on both directions. However, cross traffic will be allowed as per parade position.
"Road users are, therefore, requested to plan their journey in advance and avoid the route of parade from 9.30 AM to 12 PM for their own convenience. People can also avail metro services as all metro stations will remain open during the rehearsals," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla.
Routes for inter-city and inter-state buses will also be either curtailed or diverted during the period.
"No TSR and Taxi will be allowed to enter or ply in the restricted area after 7.00 AM. Traffic police arrangements are for the guidance of the public. Motorists are requested to have patience and observe traffic and road discipline and follow directions of Traffic Police personnel," said Shukla.
Police also said that invitation card has been issued by name and is not transferable.
"This should not be transferred to anyone else. Mobile phone will not be allowed in enclosures. Do not bring electronic items like Laptop, Camera/Video Camera, Transistor, Digital Diary, Remote controlled Car-keys, etc. Do not bring eatables, food packets, water bottles, cigarette lighter, match boxes, knives, arms, etc," the advisory said.
