Train gets delayed, loco pilot says no info given to him

A passenger train between here and Manamadurai was delayed by about an hour today allegedly due to non-availability of the loco pilot for which an inquiry has been ordered.
The train was scheduled to depart this morning around 6 am from here to Manamadurai. However, it did not leave at the scheduled time as no loco pilot turned up at the platform to steer the train.
Irked by the alleged delay, passengers lodged a complaint to Railway authorities.
Asked about the incident, a Railway public relations official said, "we will be able to tell you about this only after the inquiry which is on."

"The loco pilot (in question) says that he was very much available in the station premises ready to take up duty. He says that he did not get any information about the train he was supposed to steer, inquiry is on," the official told PTI.
