Train service hit as local train knocks down person at Sodepur

Train service at Sealdah main line was disrupted during office hours today after an old man was knocked down by a local train near the Sodepur railway station in North 24 Parganas.
Following the incident daily passengers and locals turned violent and vandalised the station and ransacked the station master' room.
None was, howerevr, injured.
The protestors also put up a rail blockade since morning at the busy station in the northern outskirts of the city disrupting movement of trains since morning.
Eastern railway spokesperson did not respond to calls for their reaction. PTI BSM
