Train service has been resumed after a damaged rail bridge in Rayagada district was repaired, East Coast Railways chief public relations officer J P Mishra said adding the movement was restored as a large number of trains were either cancelled or were being run on diverted routes.
However, the speed of the trains at the approach of the repaired rail bridge has been restricted to 10 kmph with extreme cautious lookout for any warning sign.
The services of only a few important trains will be resumed now on the route as its capacity to run trains has got squeezed, Mishra said adding some trains may remain cancelled for some time while some others may run on diverted routes.
"Hundreds of labourers and dozens of machines are on the job," he said.
ECoR General Manager Umesh Singh, who was camping at the site, left the place only after the first engine trial on the repaired bridge was done successfully.
