Training for clean city survey assessors gets underway

The two-day training session for survey assessors who who will conduct the clean city survey across the country started here today.
The training session in New Delhi and Pune for more than 60 survey assessors in charge of conducting Swachh Survekshan in different centers is being carried out from today, said a senior Union Urban Development Ministry official.
Swachh Survekshan is UD Ministry's flagship clean city survey covering 75 cities aiming to assess the cleanliness level in Urban India and the work carried out by the respective municipals.
Similar training sessions have already been conducted in Kolkata and Hyderabad last week with over 50 other assessors.

Realising the importance of the role survey assessors play in the whole process of evaluation, the training sessions are to ensure that the survey takes place in an unbiased, independent and consistent manner across all 75 cities evaluated under the survey.
A team of 110 Quality Council of India (QCI) assessors will be deployed across 75 different cities to confirm work done on the construction of household individual toilets and community toilets, door-to-door collection of garbage and waste management and treatment.

The training would cover lectures by experts, municipals officials and QCI project team to ensure that the surveyors are equipped with adequate IT tools (tabs, apps and web tools) to minimise physical intervention and reduce chances of errors.

According to the official, "Swachh Survekshan is the very first survey commissioned by the Ministry since the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission in October 2014. We at the Ministry want to make absolutely sure that the quality of the survey, which is most critical and crucial for establishing the reputation of different cities, is well-maintained."
He said the training sessions would ensure that the whole process of evaluation is transparent, hence, building the survey's credibility of reflecting ground-level realities.
