Transfer racket: IB, Delhi police officials granted bail

A Delhi court has granted bail to an official each of the Intelligence Bureau and the Delhi Police and two alleged middlemen in an alleged transfer- posting racket case.
Special Judge Virender Kumar Goyal granted the relief to IB Assistant Director Kameshwar, Delhi Police inspector Banay Singh Meena and two alleged middlemen -- Rajan Kumar and Arun Tiwari -- on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 each.
The court said no purpose would be served by keeping them in custody.
In their bail application, the accused had claimed that they were not required for the probe since the CBI had already filed the charge sheet.

The probe agency had opposed the application, saying they could flee from justice, if granted relief.
The CBI had on October 7 filed a charge sheet in the case against the four. The case was registered on August 9 against them for allege criminal conspiracy, illegal gratification and commission of offence of abetment by public servant.
"During course of investigation, the CBI had intercepted the accused persons and recovered the alleged gratification amount of Rs 10 lakh (approx) from the private persons," the agency had alleged and added that it had carried out searches at several premises of the accused in Delhi.

"During the search at the premises of Kumar here, (total) cash amounting to Rs 1.6 crore (approx), certain rubber stamps of various ministries/departments of Government of India and forged letterheads of various senior government officers and incriminating documents were recovered," it had claimed.
