Rich tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away recently, at a memorial meet organised here today by the BJP.
"Vajpayee's life was a celebration, celebration for Mother India. He celebrated the idea called India as never before," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said in his address at the meeting.
He said the former premier was an accomplished journalist, a political leader and a poet.
His (Vajpayee's) decisions on foreign policy had always been great, he said.
Patra recalled Vajpayee's successes as Prime Minister, including heralding the telecom revolution in the country, the golden quadrilateral road project, conducting the nuclear tests and the victory in the Kargil war.
Former Union Minister and BJP MP Bandaru Dattatreya, president of Telangana unit of the party K Laxman and other leaders were present on the occasion.
