"My whole (modus operandi) in my twenties was being in as many different types of films as you can. Working with as many different types of directors as you can. I think, in part, that's what I wanted to do as an actor."
The actress said it was not easy to be taken seriously after first found fame in comedy movie "The Princess Diaries" in 2001 but she has worked hard to avoid being typecast, reported Female First.
"And also, for the first few years of my career, 'The Princess Diaries' was so cool in so many ways. It was a great first job. It was a hit.
Reflecting on her career, the "Les Miserables" star said, "This whole thing, everything that's happened to me has been such a lovely surprise. I've worked very hard for it, but I'm so surprised that it's going as well as it is.
