The ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal today criticised the BJP for allegedly pursuing divisive politics, creating hatred against each other and spreading unrest to destabilise law and order.
"We strongly condemn the way BJP is pursuing divisive politics, creating hatred against each other and spreading unrest to destabilise the state's law and order," TMC secretary-general Partha Chatterjee said here today.
"When the state is absolutely peaceful and people here enjoy most cordial and friendly relation among themselves, some forces are trying to vitiate the atmosphere by disrupting peace and harmony in the state in their own interest," Chatterjee said.
"People have given the TMC chief Mamata Banerjee a massive mandate in support of her development strategy. We won't allow any force to disrupt this peaceful environment and development initiatives undertaken by the Mamata Banerjee government," Chatterjee said.
He felt that instead of spreading canards against the state government, the BJP government at "the Centre should cooperate with the state's development programmes".
Chatterjee's accusation followed allegation by senior BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh that the ruling party was pursuing politics of bloodbath in the state.
Singh had also said that for the second time in a fortnight, a team of the BJP central leadership would visit Bengal to assess the ground situation following repeated attacks on BJP workers across the state.
