Telangana Congress today alleged the TRS government is insensitive towards the farmers as neither it has "released farm loan waiver funds" nor cleared dues under other welfare schemes.
Despite the State having a budget of Rs 1.30 lakh crore, the Government is not able to release Rs 8,000 crore to clear crop loan waiver dues and also funds for welfare of other sections of society, Telangana Congress President N Uttam Kumar Reddy told reporters here.
"Telangana's budget for 2016-17 is of Rs 1.30 lakh crore. Even if we assume that the government would be spending Rs 1 lakh this fiscal, then during the last six months, it must have spent Rs 50,000 crore.
"It is strange the Chief Minister was unable to arrange about Rs 8,000 crore to clear crop loan waiver dues and Rs 2,000 crore towards fee reimbursement dues. He also seems to have no money to clear small payments pertaining to mid-day meal scheme," he said.
This shows the TRS Government is insensitive towards the cultivators, he said.
The TPCC President said the Congress would launch a mass contact programme in all districts of Telangana.
He said the enumeration of crops damaged in recent rains was on and local Congress leaders would submit representations to Tehsildars and District Collectors concerned.
Reddy said the Congress workers would approach over 40 lakh farmers through "Application Campaign" seeking immediate clearance of crop loan waiver dues.
Similarly, nearly 14 lakh students would be approached, making them sign the petition for payment of tuition fees reimbursement dues. The fees reimbursement scheme is aimed at enabling students from disadvantaged sections to pursue higher education.
