A joint meeting of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi state committee, MPs and MLAs, proposed to be organised here tomorrow, has been put off in view of heavy rains lashing some places in Telangana.
TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asked them to be available to people and take part in relief measures, party sources said.
A fresh date for the proposed meeting would be finalised after the rains subsided, Rao said.
The party meeting is proposed to be organised against the backdrop of the ruling party's plans to hold a public meet on September 2 to present its progress report to the people.
Rao had also said the candidates for next year's elections would be announced in September.
Legislative Assembly elections in Telangana would be held simultaneously with Lok Sabha polls next year.
Normal life was thrown out of gear as heavy rains lashed some places in Telangana today.
Rao instructed officials to be alert in the wake of the downpour.
According to a report of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) this morning, Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over Telangana.
It said "very heavy" rain occurred at isolated places in the districts of Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Kumaram Bheem. It also said "heavy rain" occurred at some places in districts of Adilabad, Mancherial, Peddapalle, Rangareddy and others.
Several rivulets were in spate in Adilabad district, affecting roads, according to official sources.
