In yet another instance of crackdown on sale of alcohol in dry Bihar, Police here today seized 500 cartons of liquor worth Rs 50 lakh and arrested two persons in this connection.
The liquor was being unloaded from a truck at Jhakhra village under Pipra Kothi police station of East Champaran district when a police party reached the spot following a tip-off, SHO Abhishek Kumar Ranjan said.
He said the liquor had been brought from Haryana and two locals - Umesh Yadav and Dayakant Thakur - were arrested from the spot for their suspected involvement in liquor trade.
The truck and a motorcycle parked nearby have also been seized, he added.
Sale and consumption of alcohol was completely banned in Bihar in April, 2016.
