The Erode Turmeric Merchants Association had declared a holiday today for Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard,Erode Cooperative marketing Society and Gobichettipalayam Agricultural Marketing Society in connection with Ramzan to be celebrated on Saturday.
However the regulated market Committee conducted the turmeric auction sale today. A total of 330 bags of turmeric arrived for sale and only 52 were purchased.
The finger variety fetched between Rs 6,099 to Rs 6,877 a quintal and the Root variety was sold at Rs 6,019 to Rs 6,444 a quintal.
The weekly sale was conducted at 'Uzhavan Market here. A total of 409 bags of 526 which arrived were sold. Finger turmeric was sold at Rs 6,489 to Rs 7,599 a quintal and the root variety at Rs 6339 to Rs 6999 a quintal. The price of the commodity also decreased in the market. Medium variety turmeric arrived for sale.
