Turmeric prices dip in Erode markets

Continuing its down trend for the past two months, turmeric price decreased by Rs 1,000 per quintal today at the auction here, one of the major markets in the country for the spice, due to lower arrivals.
Only 1,800 bags of turmeric arrived for sale and of this 910 bags were sold, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association President R K V Ravishankar said.
Hybrid finger turmeric was lower by Rs 1,000 per quintal when compared to last week close with the price quoted at Rs 4,095 to Rs 6,314 a quintal at the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales Yard, he said. Root variety was sold at prices ranging from Rs 3,800 to Rs 6,291 a quintal.

Regulated Market Committee: Finger turmeric Rs 5,699 to Rs 6,691 and root variety Rs 5,034 to Rs 6,529.
Erode Cooperative Marketing Society: Finger turmeric Rs 5,799 to Rs 6,669 and root variety Rs 5,790 to Rs 6,569 a quintal.
Gobichettipalayam Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Society: Finger turmeric Rs 5,979 to Rs 6,401 a quintal, root variety Rs 5,880 to Rs 6,339 a quintal.
