Deven was last seen on big screen as Azhar Lala, the mentally challenged son of Rauf Lala played by Rishi Kapoor in the "Agneepath" remake.
Deven has already directed TV series 'Sarabhai V/s Sarabhai' which was a rage among the audience.
Director-producer Vipul Shah who gave Deven his first big role in television serial 'Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka' has brought him on board to direct a film.
The TV actor will be now be seen directing a completely fresh romantic comedy for Shah, a statement issued here said.
