The TV sequel to Tom Cruise starrer 2002 film 'Minority Report' has officially got a pilot order with the original director Kevin Spielberg on board.
It was preemptively picked up by FOX in September last year with a put-pilot commitment that had a USD one million penalty attached, reported Variety online.
Max Borenstein ('Godzilla') is enlisted to pen the script and serve as one of the executive produces. Kevin Falls ('The West Wing') boards the project as a showrunner, and Kevin Spielberg who directed the original film will also be involved in the small-screen adaptation.
The film ended with the shutdown of the Precrime division, headed by Cruise's Chief John Anderton.
The TV sequel picks up 10 years after the events in the film.
One of the former three Precogs struggles to lead a 'normal' human life, but remains haunted by visions of the future. He meets a detective haunted by her past who just may help him find a purpose to his gift.
