Two men were arrested for allegedly carrying out burglaries at factories in southeast Delhi's Okhla industrial area, police said today.
On May 4, a special picket for vehicle checking was constituted at Maa Anandmai Marg, Okhla. At 3 pm, two motorcycle-borne men were stopped for checking, but they fled, they said.
However, the police team intercepted the riders and nabbed them.
The accused, Jiten Kushwaha (25) and Sonu Kumar (25), were arrested and 14 laptops, one LED TV, 67 pieces of leather jackets, 146 pieces of designer clothes, unstitched cloth material, copper pipes, were seized from them, they added.
With their arrest, police claimed to have solved six cases of burglary.
In view of the recent incidents of house and factory thefts and burglaries a Special Task Force (STF) was constituted.
The duo planned to target big offices and companies in Okhla and in the last few months, they burgled around half a dozen factories in Okhla. They had stolen laptops, TV sets, leather jackets, expensive designer clothes, AC copper wires etc, police said.
They used to dispose off stolen articles to scrap dealers and passersby at cheap rates. They were not able to dispose off laptops and clothes and were looking for buyers, they said.
During the daytime, they used to recce companies on the pretext of employment in those companies. They used to review the security system of the factory and possible entry as well as exit points.
During late night hours, the accused used to enter the factories from back lane and steal the articles, said Chinmoy Biswal, deputy commissioner of police (southeast).
