A man, who had purportedly opened fire on a bouncer of a famous pub in Rajouri Garden in West Delhi on Wednesday, has been arrested with one of his associate, police said today.
Tarush alias Tashu was arrested yesterday from near Peeragarhi Chowk along with his associate Sukhwinder alias Sonu by the Crime Branch.
One 7.65 mm sophisticated pistol used in the crime has been recovered from the possession of Tashu along with three live cartridges.
"The incident took place on Wednesday when a PCR call was received at Rajouri Garden police station that a bouncer named Pankaj of Aqua Lounge Bar has been shot outside the pub. He was rushed to a nearby nursing home for treatment," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
During investigation, name of Tashu, a local goon, surfaced as the main assailant and several teams were constituted to nab him.
Yesterday a tip off was received that the accused would come near DTC Bus Depot, Peera Garhi Chowk alongwith his associates to meet his aides. A team laid a trap and apprehended the duo.
On interrogation, the duo disclosed to police that on the night of February 16, Tashu was beaten up by the bouncers of the pub while he was under influence of liquor in a party organised by him in White Walker, West Gate Mall, Rajouri Garden, on her daughter's birthday.
The victim Pankaj was also present in White Walker pub and had joined the bouncers of White Walker pub in beating him.
On Tuesday, Tashu along with his associates Sukhwinder and Tejpal planned to teach a lesson to the bouncers of the pub. Armed with baseball bats and pistols, they reached Aqua Lounge Bar, where they thrashed Pankaj and dragged him out of the pub where Tashu fired upon him.
Tashu has also revealed that he had purchased the weapon used in crime for Rs 35,000 from one of his friends who used to meet him regularly in the pub.
Efforts are being made to arrest the remaining absconding accused persons including the source of illicit weapon, police said.
