Two men have been arrested for allegedly killing a man whose wife was being harassed by one of them in northeast Delhi's New Usmanpur area, police said today.
The accused, Sudhir alias Rahul alias Nanhe (23) and Sameer alias Sonu (20) were arrested from Khajuri Khas on February 2 and 3 respectively in connection with the murder of Rajesh, police said.
The trouble started when Sudhir dialed a mobile number by mistake. Rajesh's wife returned the call and he allegedly misbehaved with her and started harassing and abusing her, police said.
This had been happening for the last 7-8 months and Rajesh warned Sudhir against harassing his wife, they added.
On the pretext of solving their differences, Sudhir invited the victim on January 29 for drinks and killed him in Yamuna Khadar area near Khajuri Chowk, they said.
On January 30, the body, which was partially burnt with slit throat, was found, said DCP (Northeast) AK Singla.
The accused had taken the purse containing ID of the deceased and Rs 450, he said.
A team under Inspector Vipin Kumar Sharma, SHO (New Usmanpur) and overall supervision of Sachin Sharma, ACP (Gokalpuri) was formed to nab the accused.
"It was a blind case as there was no clue in it except a tailor's mark on the pant worn by the deceased. A team was sent to the tailor at New Ashok Nagar and he could only tell the name of the deceased and shared a mobile number in his receipt book," said Singla.
The address, in which the mobile number was registered, was found to be fake.
"Some numbers were zeroed in and focus was centered on a suspect mobile number from which the deceased had received calls on the night of January 29 and the location was found at New Ashok Nagar as well as Khajuri Khas at the probable time of murder," said Singla.
The number was traced and Sudhir and his accomplice were arrested.
Sudhir has previously been involved in a case under POCSO Act and other cases.
