Two persons were arrested today in connection with suspected question paper leak of Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) examination for loco pilot, police said here today.
The duo were arrested from two centres, where the RRB examination was to be conducted by the Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh police.
"As per the information gathered through surveillance and other means it appears to be paper leak, subject to confirmation by the RRB," IG STF Sujit Pandey told reporters here.
He said Ramakant Yadav and Dipak Kumar Patel were arrested with answer keys of 100 questions from Bajrang Lal Sahu Inter college at Musahibganj in Thakurganj and Awasiya Public Inter college at Rajni Khand in Sharda Nagar this morning.
"The answer keys recovered from them have been sent to Chariman RRB for verification", Pandey said, adding solved questions of RRB, Malda (West Bengal) have also been found and also sent for verification.
About the modus operandi, Pandey said this appeared to be an organised racket, which use to take money and provide answers half an hour before examinations to the candidates.
"They used to inform candidates, which of the options (A/B/C/D) is correct and the candidates tick the correct answers as per the question sets given to them," Panday said.
The officer said they had specific information about 16 suspects that were operating from Lucknow.
"There were 12 sets of questions. We are verifying from RRB which set was being used here," Pandey said.
About the money being taken by the gang, Pandey said the STF operation was still on and it could be told at later stages.
An FIR in this regard has been registered at Ashiyana and Thakurganj police stations by RRB officials.
