Accused Shaik Saleem and Syed Abdul Majeed who were allegedly involved in 73 chain snatching cases in Hyderabad and Cyberabad areas over the past one year were arrested during vehicle checking here, Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy told reporters today.
The police also arrested three persons--Mir Sajjad Ali, Sagar Kaka and Abdul Rahman, the three receivers of the stolen gold ornaments weighing 2.135 kgs, which the two snatchers had sold to them, the Hyderabad Police Chief said.
Reddy said they were now planning to book the habitual receivers of stolen gold ornaments under the provisions of Preventive Detention (PD) Act, adding around 600 chain snatching offences are reported in the city every year.
