According to police, the clash which came ahead of the third phase of the panchayat polls scheduled for tomorrow, occurred at Borgachia under Amdanga police station.
During the clash, a bomb was hurled in front of the vehicle of visiting election commission observer for Amdanga, UK Sengupta. The bomb damaged the vehicle but Sengupta escaped unhurt.
When Amdanga police station officer-in-charge Samsher Ali reached the spot, the rival supporters indulged in stone pelting.
Senior police officials who rushed to the spot to control the situation arrested six persons for their involvement in the clash.
