Two elephants die in mysterious circumstances

Two elephants were found dead under mysterious circumstances in different areas of Nilgiris district this afternoon, forest department officials said here.
Tribals found the carcass of a 20-year-old female elephant in Geddaratti under Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, who informed the officials concerned, they said.
Similarly, a dead one-year-old male elephant's body was found in Mundakunnu in Naduganai under Gudalur forest range.
Post-mortem was done on both pachyderms and the viscera sent to Chennai to ascertain the cause of the death, since there was no external injuries which could lead to death, sources said.
