Two wild elephants were found dead at Geruwa village under Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary of East Singhbhum district today, a forest official said.
The two female elephants aged around 25 years and 15 years were found dead in Geruwa, Divisional Forest Officer (Dalma wildlife), Kamlesh Pandey said.
Pandey said a forest range officer and other officials of the department along with a doctor rushed to the spot and were investigating the matter.
It was suspected that the incident was caused due to sprinkling of pesticide by the locals in their paddy fields which the pachyderms might have consumed.
