Principal District Judge N Seshasayee awarded life imprisonment to Ramachandran and Krishnan and two of their associates Ganesan and Murugan to six months imprisonment.
The prosecution case was that the four had accosted victim Santhoshkumar after a drunken brawl near the signal in Saibaba Colony locality on July 12, 2011 in broad daylight.
They knocked him down with their motorbike and hit him with big stones lying there, resulting in his instantaneous death even as people in the four-road junction remained mute spectators. The accused later fled the area.
The Judge also ordered the main accused to pay a fine of Rs 50,000 each, failing which they would undergo imprisonment for another six months.
Ganesan and Murugan were slapped with a fine of Rs.2,000 each and in default undergo two months imprisonment.
