Additional Session Judge J S Bhinder sentenced Harpreet Kaur and her brother-in-law Sandip Kumar to life imprisonment for murdering latter's wife Maya on August 1, 2010.
The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 each on them. The convicts will have to serve another year if they fail to pay the penalty.
According to the prosecution, Sandip was married with Maya and the couple had a six-month-old daughter.
Maya's younger sister Harpreet used to visit her house and developed illicit relations with Sandip.
Police, however, after thorough investigation arrested Sandip and Harpreet.
