However, the family of Akash alleged he was attacked because he had an altercation with a person, who supplies bore well water in the area, over payment issues a few days ago.
Akash and his brother were bursting firecrackers on Diwali night. Fragments from a firecracker hit a friend of Arun Sharma, who supplies bore well water in the area, they said.
An argument ensued but it ended soon. However, the next day, Sharma and his friends reached Akash's house and attacked him with sticks and rods, the police said.
Akash is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Sharma is absconding but the police nabbed two of his associates -- Pradeep Kumar (24) and Dheeraj Kumar (23)-- from the area today.
