Two persons were killed and two others injured when an elevator crashed in a city in northeast China, officials said today.
A private elevator in a villa in Liaoning Province fell to the second basement from the third floor suddenly yesterday.
Two out of four people in the ill-fated elevator were killed, while the injured were sent to a local hospital for treatment, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The elevator, produced by a Suzhou-based manufacturer in the eastern province of Jiangsu, is not supervised by the local quality watchdog as it is a private one.
Such elevators are installed in 50 villas in the district, the report said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
