Two labourers die after falling into septic tank

Two labourers died in the wee hours today after allegedly falling into a septic tank of a house while they were cleaning it, in Kaprain city here, police said.
"The incident took place at around 1 am on Monday when the victims, Mahaveer Harijan (32) and Mahendra Harijan (35), residents of Kaprain city in the district, fell into the septic tank of a house while they were cleaning it and died on the spot," Station House Officer(SHO) of Kaprain police station Digvijay Singh said.
Mahaveer first climbed down the septic tank but when he did not turn up for sometime, Mahendra went down into the tank to search him. The labourers were already dead when their bodies were taken out of the tank, he said.

Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased staged a demonstration by placing the dead bodies before the community health centre (CHC) and demanded a compensation of ten lakh rupees and a government job to the next of kin of the victims from the state government.
Thesildar (Revenue Official) Dhanraj Sharma, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Keshoraipatan sub division and other officials assured the family members of adequate compensation from the state government after which they handed over the bodies for postmortem, the SHO said.
A case under section 304 of IPC has been registered in this connection against one Rambharose, owner of the house where the labourers were working, SHO said adding that a probe was initiated into the matter.
