Two officials of the Narcotics Department were today sentenced to five years imprisonment and fined Rs 90,000 each by a local court here for taking bribe.
The order was pronounced by Special Judge (CBI) Rajendra Singh.
According to the prosecution, in July 2010, one Haneef was detained from Barabanki and brought to the Narcotics Office at Mahanagar in Lucknow.
When Haneef's friend Irfan went to the office, then Superintendent of the department Diwakar Tripathi and Upper Division Clerk Rajiv Kumar Singh demanded bribe for his release, they said.
Irfan then informed the CBI and the agency caught them.
