A senior Government Railway Police official said the two, whose identity was not known, fell from the compartment near the station and were rescued by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel manning the tracks.
They were taken to Malda Hospital but were not in the position to speak as they had sustained multiple injuries due to the fall.
The official said quoting eyewitness accounts that the two were standing near the door and as one of them tripped, the other person tried to pull him back into the compartment and also lost his balance.
